(a) The Law Director shall serve as the chief legal advisor and attorney for the City and its officers, Boards, Commissions and Departments in all matters relating to their official duties and powers.
(b) The duties of the Law Director are hereby prescribed as follows:
(1) Attends one regular Council meeting per month and Special Council meetings as necessary;
(2) Drafts ordinances, resolutions, agreements and contracts to be made or entered into by the City upon request by the City Manager and/or City Council and approves the forms of such instruments in a timely manner;
(3) Responds to written inquiries for legal opinions and advice from Council, City Manager, other City officials and/or staff;
(4) Attends meetings with City, County, State and Federal officials and other governmental officials as necessary;
(5) Responsible for the prosecution or defense in all civil suits or cases in which the City may be a party, unless Special Counsel is deemed necessary;
(6) Reviews opinions of Special Bond Counsel where appropriate.
