§ 33.03  VETERANS’ BURIAL ALLOWANCE.
   (A)   The Board of Commissioners hereby establishes, a veterans’ burial allowance in the sum of $100, as a tribute of respect due to members of the armed forces of the United States, who received an honorable discharge therefrom, and who were a resident of the county at the time of death.
   (B)   The veterans’ burial allowance shall be paid for each claim submitted by an interested person with the Board to defray the cost for services rendered and material furnished in the care of the body or place for burial.
   (C)   Only one claim shall be allowed for any decedent who qualifies as a veteran under I.C. 10-17-10-1 and the total sum of the claim filed and for which allowances shall be made, shall not exceed $100.
   (D)   All claims submitted on or after 1-1-2000, shall be allowed up to the sum.
   (E)   Any sum of money expended by the county shall be considered as a gift, and no persons for and on behalf of the state or any of its political subdivisions shall be authorized to file a claim for a lump sum death benefit, with the federal social security administration claiming reimbursement for any sum of money so expended.
   (F)   This section shall take effect immediately upon approval by this Board.
