(A) Within 90 days following receipt of notification of the assigned address of the property, it shall be the duty of all property owners or occupants to display the assigned road number on all houses and other structures located on lots or parcels of land abutting public or private streets or roads within the unincorporated areas of the county in conformity with the uniform numbering system. The owner or occupant shall post officially assigned numbers in English, using Arabic (not Roman) numerals at a minimum of four inches in height and made of reflective, durable weatherproof material, of a color that stands out distinctly against its background. The official number shall be placed on the house or business structure where it may easily be seen when approaching the house or business. Three-inch lettering shall
also be placed on both sides of a mail box and one-inch lettering on the front, if a mail box is used [sized and positioned according to postal regulations]. If the house or structure is not visible from a road or if the house or structure is more than 100 feet from the road, the three-inch lettering shall be placed on a post by the roadway. If mailboxes are placed closely side by side in a way that numbers on the sides of the mailboxes cannot be seen, the numbers need to be placed only on the front of each mailbox, and the individual houses or structures should be identified using house numbers or appropriately placed road posts. Houses or structures that were numbered prior to the effective date of this chapter shall be renumbered if necessary to comply with the uniform numbering system and so that numerical harmony through an area or areas is achieved.
(B) No later than 30 days prior to the commencement of construction of a house or structure or, if applicable, at the time the permit for construction is issued, an address number will be assigned to the new house or structure by the Clerk or the Clerk’s designee. If a permit system is utilized, the number shall be included on the permit, and no permit authorizing the occupancy of a home or structure shall be issued and no final inspection of a building performed unless the house or structure displays the officially assigned number in full compliance with the standards of this chapter.
