§ 111.04 TERM OF VALIDITY.
A license shall remain valid indefinitely so long as the original applicant continues to operate a wholesale or retail merchandising business of substantially the same character at the location for which the license was originally granted. The license may not be transferred to a new business location. A license may be continued or transferred to a new owner, with the consent of the City Council, in the event that the substantive character or ownership of the business changes, provided that the original licensee or new owner files with the Clerk-Treasurer an application for license amendment describing the nature of the change and providing the appropriate amended information as reflected in the original application, and pays a nonrefundable license amendment fee of $5. The City Council may deny the continuance or transfer of the license if it finds on reasonable grounds that the continued operation of the business after the proposed change would not be consistent with the conditions under which the original license was granted, but shall notify the interested parties and afford them opportunity for hearing in the same manner as in the case of an original license application.
