(A) The Finance Department shall charge all residents and nonresidents who receive emergency medical and ambulance transport services from the Fire Division the usual, reasonable and customary fees for such services. Usual, reasonable and customary fees are defined as the lowest prevailing fees established by the Medicare operations insurance carrier for the Medicare locality area one, as revised from time to time.
(B) Emergency medical and ambulance transport services provided by the Fire Division to residents of the city and nonresidents who work in the city shall be billed to the individual’s private insurance company, Medicare or Medicaid, as applicable. The amount paid for the services provided, by the private insurance company, Medicare and/or Medicaid, as applicable, shall be accepted by the city as full payment, and the city shall waive the right to collect any remaining balance.
(C) All fees collected for emergency medical and ambulance transport services shall be made available for use by the Fire Division to defray the cost of operations, capital purchases and/or training.
