§ 32.11 TUITION REIMBURSEMENT.
   (A)   Provided that an employee obtains prior approval from the Mayor, such employee shall be reimbursed in the amount of 80% for the cost of tuition, book fees and related expenses incurred for any job-related or management degree courses provided by any local college, local university, or recognized vocational facility or institution of higher learning accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools; provided that the employee obtains a grade of B (3.0) or better. Approved courses requiring only a pass/fail grade require a grade of pass. Upon receipt of tuition reimbursement from the city, the employee must sign a provision authorizing the city to deduct from his or her final pay monies due the city if the employee voluntarily leaves or is dismissed for cause within three years after completing the course for which reimbursement was received. City reimbursements shall be recovered from such employees, prorated according to the following schedule and based on the date the employment relationship terminated:

   (B)   The city may require that an employee attend an employment related seminar which is designed to enhance skills directly related to his or her current position with the city. In such a case, the city shall pay the following types of expenses incurred by the employee: lodging, meals, personal automobile mileage or the costs of other modes of transportation, and tuition/registration fees.
   (C)   An employee shall be paid for his or her regularly scheduled hours while attending the seminar. An employee may not earn compensatory time or overtime attending, or traveling to or from, such seminar.
