§ 40.560   DAILY FEES AND PAYMENT THEREOF
   (A)   The city hereby imposes a fee of fifty dollars ($50.00) per day for any vehicle stored at the impound lot, which fee must be paid for each day of storage prior to its release. Provided however, that no charge will be imposed for any day the office of the City Clerk is closed, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, with the exception that the daily charge will be imposed on the day of impoundment, no matter what day of the week the impoundment occurs. The procedure for release of the vehicle is hereby established to require the owner or person claiming entitlement to the vehicle, if designated in writing by the owner, to pay the storage fee and towing fee and any applicable fines to the City Clerk by cash or certified funds, after which the City Clerk will notify the police officer on duty to release the vehicle to the individual who shall present proper evidence of payment to the storage lot in order to obtain the vehicle.
   (B)   The Chief of Police is hereby directed to adopt and prepare appropriate forms or other documentation to be utilized in accomplishing the foregoing relative to payment of fees, costs, and other appropriate sums prior to release of the impounded vehicle.
   (C)   Information about each vehicle shall be maintained by the police department including the owner, date and time placed in impound, time and date released from impound, as well as the name of the towing service towing the vehicle to the impound lot and the specific reason for the impound.
