§ 40.201   SCHOOL ZONES
   (A)   Definitions. For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply unless the context indicates or clearly requires a different meaning.
   “SCHOOL ZONE 1.” A distance of one-eighth (1/8) mile east and west of the main building of Prichard Elementary School along U.S. 60 - Main Street within the city limits.
   “SCHOOL ZONE 2.” A distance of one-eight (1/8) mile north of the intersection of Raider Drive with Kentucky Highway 1, and being in front of East Carter High School within the city limits and extending to the corporate limits of the city.
   (B)   Speed limits. No motor vehicle shall exceed a speed of 25 miles per hour in passing through a school zone as defined in subsection (A) between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on days on which school is in session.
   (C)   Flashing signs and signals. The city shall install flasher lights and/or signs in compliance with Kentucky Bureau of Highways standards and specifications at the outer limits of the school speed zones established in subsection (A). The flasher lights shall be in operation between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on days on which school is in session at either or both the two schools identified in subsection (A).
