§ 22.006   RESPONSE AREA
   (A)   In order to provide assurances, to the extent reasonably possible, for the uninterrupted safety and security of the citizens of the city, the Police Department shall restrict all patrol and response to complaints or calls for assistance from the public to areas contained within the corporate limits of the city. This section shall not prohibit the exercise of ordinary detective or investigatory obligations by a member of the Police Department concerning an alleged crime occurring within the city limits of the city.
   (B)   Should there be an emergency declared by an adjacent law enforcement agency and as a result of same a request made for assistance by the Police Department, then the city police officers may respond to said emergency.
   (C)   The provision of Police Department services outside the city done in accordance with a request by an adjacent law enforcement agency as a result of an emergency then existing shall be made known to the City Council and Mayor at the next monthly meeting following the occurrence with a report by the Chief of Police setting forth the name of the agency making the request, the individual making the request, and the nature of the request involved. Should an officer of the Police Department respond outside the city under this subsection of this section, then the follow-up investigation is not to be done by the Police Department but rather by the requesting agency.
   (D)   The Police Department may enter into a mutual aide agreement with other law enforcement agencies, done under written contract with appropriate financial consideration being made, to provide assistance as first responders and under other circumstances in accordance with said written agreement. Said mutual aid contract shall be given approval by the City Council of the city prior to implementation of same.
