1733.10 DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS.
   (a)    Engineering Information Required. In the preparation of plans, structural drawings, stress sheets and calculations, as required in Section 1733.04 , the applicant for a permit under this article shall furnish all necessary information to enable the Code Enforcement Officer to ascertain whether all provisions have been complied with as outlined in this article for construction of the sign or other structure and for the strength and stability of the building or part thereof to which such sign or structure is to be attached.
   (b)    Projecting Signs. The supporting members of projecting signs shall be secured to the masonry walls or the structural frame of the building on which the signs are placed by means of galvanized bolts or clamps passed through the wall, bolted on the inside and fastened with suitable washers or plates; except, that signs having an area of less than ten square feet or weighting less than 100 pounds may be secured in a manner approved by the Code Enforcement Officer. All supporting members and fastenings shall be designed with a factor of safety of ten.
   (c)    Roof Signs. Roof signs shall be secured to the brick walls or structural frames of the buildings on which the signs are placed in the same manner prescribed under subsection (b) hereof or by foundation bolts with washers or plates as approved by the Code Enforcement Officer.
   (d)    Structural Frames for Projecting Signs and Roof Signs. The details of the structural frames of projecting signs and roof signs shall be made according to good engineering practice with gusset plates and with at least two bolts or rivets used in each connection. Structural frames of roof signs shall have attached to them wire cables securely fastened to the roof or walls of the building or part thereof as an additional safeguard beyond that required for the anchorage of the structural frame.
   (e)    Ground Signs. All ground signs shall be designed for the dead load of the sign and for the wind pressure in any direction of the amount required by the Building Code or as directed by the Code Enforcement Officer. All ground signs shall be designed as solid faced signs.
   (f)    Marquees and Porte-Cocheres. All marquees and porte-cocheres shall be designed for a live load of at least forty pounds per square foot and a total live and dead load of not less than fifty pounds per square foot plus whatever additional load the Code Enforcement Officer shall direct.
