§ 32.003 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.
   All employees (Chief and officers) shall meet minimum qualifications. These include completion of evaluation similar to the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, or its equivalent, or other evaluation as determined by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training and possession of a certificate attesting to satisfactory completion of a basic police course, as approved by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training of not less than 300 hours. Every person who is not the holder of such certificate and is duly appointed as a police or peace officer shall be appointed to such position on a temporary basis only and shall, within one year from the date of appointment, qualify as required or forfeit such position. For the purpose of this section, a POLICE OR PEACE OFFICER is defined as a full-time duly appointed officer who is paid for more than 30 hours per week.
