The Utility Superintendent may designate in the town the distance between the overhead electric wires, cables and conductors of any company, firm or corporation and may regulate the direction in which the wires, cables or conductors shall be run for any purpose from fixtures upon any building or at point of entering in a building for service, and any company, firm, corporation or individual owning, operating or maintaining any wires, cables or conductors over any building in the town shall, notwithstanding any agreement to the contrary, keep the wires, cable or conductors at least eight feet above the highest part of the roof of the buildings and shall keep and maintain any construction placed upon any building for the support of any wire, cable or conduit to the satisfaction of the Utility Superintendent.
