The Board of Trustees shall at such time as the Board may deem proper and necessary appoint a Gas Inspector for the town who shall perform such duties as herein outlined and such other duties as may be directed by the Board of Trustees and who shall receive such compensation or salary as may be from time to time fixed by the Board of Trustees and who shall be subject to removal by the Board of Trustees at its discretion, provided that the Gas Inspector may also be appointed Plumbing Inspector of the town at the discretion of the Board of Trustees; and provided further that the Utility Superintendent shall act as such Gas Inspector at all times there is a vacancy of such office, without further compensation.
