§ 7-5-10 STOPPING FOR PASSENGERS IN TRAFFIC LANE.
   A private vehicle may be momentarily stopped within a traffic lane to a light therefrom or to permit a passenger waiting at the curb opposite the place where such vehicle is stopped to enter or board such vehicle. Any vehicle stopped within a traffic lane for such purpose shall not be permitted to remain standing in such traffic lane after such passenger has alighted from, or has entered or boarded, such vehicle. No such vehicle shall be parked or permitted to stand within a traffic lane while awaiting a passenger or other occupant to return thereto, or while waiting for some person to appear who is not at the curb opposite the place where such vehicle is parked or stopped or while waiting for some person to leave a building or to perform an errand or to transact business.
