Whenever lane control signals are used in conjunction with official signs, they shall have the following meaning.
(A) Opaque arrow on green, green arrow on opaque background, or green alone. Drivers of vehicles facing such signals are permitted to use the lane or lanes over which the signal is displayed providing that no intersection traffic-control signal gives a stop indication affecting the lane or lanes involved.
(B) Opaque “X” on red, red “X” on opaque background, or red alone. Drivers of vehicles facing such signals are prohibited from using the lane over which the signal is displayed.
