§ 7-2-18 COMMITMENT FOR FAILURE TO PAY FINE AND COSTS.
   Any person upon whom a fine or penalty may be imposed by reason of the violation of any provision of this chapter and who shall fail or refuse to pay the same, together with costs, or any part thereof, upon order of the court before whom conviction is had, may be committed to the county jail until such fine or penalty and costs are fully paid; provided, that such imprisonment shall not be less than one day nor more than six months. Every person so committed to the county jail shall be required to work for the village at such labor as his or her strength will permit, within or without such county prison, not exceeding ten hours in any one day. For such work such person shall be allowed $5 per day for each day’s work to be applied on account of such fine or penalty and costs.
