(A) A police officer may use his or her motor vehicle for patrol or surveillance while on duty, at times when that officer, or the officer’s superior, believes an unmarked vehicle to be necessary in furtherance of or completion of the officer’s duties.
(B) When a police officer’s own motor vehicle is used in accordance with division (A) above, in furtherance of or completion of the officer’s duties, such vehicle will be accorded general liability coverage as a “non-owned auto” under the village’s policy or policies of insurance, but will not be accorded collision and property damage coverage, and officers will assume the risks normally covered by collision and property damage coverage.
(C) Under no circumstances will a police officer’s own motor vehicle be used for traffic patrols or stops, or for pursuit.
