(a) There is hereby established the position of Fire Division Physician, to provide the Fire Division with medical supervision in regards to the health of the Fire Division staff.
(b) The Fire Division Physician shall be appointed by the Mayor for a three-year term subject to confirmation of Council. The Physician shall be a licensed medical physician in the State of Ohio with an interest in the health and safety of fire fighters.
(c) The Fire Division Physician shall report directly to the Fire Chief or his designee, and shall be responsible for guiding, directing, and advising the staff with regard to their fitness, health, and suitability for various duties. Rules and regulations promulgated by the Fire Division Physician shall be published in the Procedures Manual of the Division of Fire.
(d) The Fire Division Physician shall provide medical guidance in the management of the occupational safety and health program.
(e) The Fire Division Physician shall be readily available for consultation and to provide professional services on an as-needed basis. This may be accomplished by referral to another qualified physician.
(f) The Fire Division Physician may also serve as the Fire Division EMS Medical Director, if qualified to do so.
