1709.17 INSECT, RODENT, AND ANIMAL CONTROL.
   (a)   Insect and Rodent Control.
      (1)   Effective measures intended to minimize the presence of rodents, flies, roaches, and other insects on the premises shall be utilized. The premises shall be kept in such condition as to prevent the harborage or feeding of insects or rodents.
      (2)   Openings to the outside, except as permitted for mobile and temporary food establishments, shall be effectively protected against the entrance of rodents and insects by tight-fitting, self-closing doors, closed windows, screening, controlled air currents, or other means. Screen doors shall be self-closing, and screens for windows, doors, skylights, transoms, intake and exhaust air ducts, and other openings to the outside shall be tight-fitting and free of breaks. Screening material shall not be less than sixteen-mesh to the inch.
   (b)   Animal Control. Live animals shall be excluded from those portions of the premises used for a food establishment that are under the control of the permit holder. This requirement does not apply to edible fish crustacea, shellfish, or to fish in aquariums. Patrol dogs accompanying security or police officers, guide dogs, or other support dogs accompanying handicapped persons shall be permitted in dining areas.
   (c)   Live or dead fish bait shall be stored or displayed separately from food or fish products.
