(a) The Age Range for Appointment as a Fire/Medic shall be: No person shall be eligible to receive an appointment to the Grandview Heights Fire Department unless he has reached the age of eighteen and is less than thirty-five years of age at the time of appointment. If the person is currently serving as a full-time sworn fire/medic in the State of Ohio, or has served as a full-time sworn fire/medic in the State of Ohio within one year prior to appointment, then the person’s current age, for the purpose of this calculation, shall be reduced by the years the person has served as a full-time sworn fire/medic in the State of Ohio.
(b) The Age Range for Appointment as a Police Officer shall be: No person shall be eligible to receive an appointment to the Grandview Heights Police Department unless he has reached the age of twenty-one and is less than thirty-five years of age at the time of appointment. If the person is currently serving as a full-time sworn police officer in the State of Ohio, or has served as a full-time sworn police officer in the State of Ohio within one year prior to appointment, then the person’s current age, for the purpose of this calculation, shall be reduced by the years the person has served as a full-time sworn police officer in the State of Ohio.
