127.02 CLAIM SETTLEMENT PROCEDURE.
   (a)   The City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed to use his best discretion and judgment to settle claims against the City that involve the payment of less than five hundred dollars ($500.00).
 
   (b)   The City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed to use his best discretion and judgment to settle claims against the City that involve the payment of between five hundred dollars ($500.00) and fifteen hundred dollars ($1500), with the approval of the Council's Finance Committee.
 
   (c)   The settlement of any claim against the City involving the payment of fifteen hundred dollars ($1500) or more shall not be authorized unless by Ordinance drafted specifically for the settlement of such claim.
 
   (d)   The City Attorney shall obtain a full and complete release from the claimant before any payment is made by the City to settle such claims.
 
   (e)   The Finance Director is hereby authorized and directed to expend any amount under fifteen hundred dollars ($1500) from the appropriate fund for the purpose of settling any claim against the City authorized by this section.
