A. Office Created; Appointment And Removal: There is hereby established the office of the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council, and shall not be subject to removal, except for cause and upon written charges and after an opportunity to be heard within thirty (30) days in his own defense during a regular meeting of the City Council.

B. Duties: The Chief of Police shall keep records and make reports concerning the activities of his department as may be required. The Chief shall be responsible for the performance of the Police Department and of all its functions, and all persons who are members of the department shall serve subject to the orders of the Chief of Police.
