The Fire Chief shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the majority of the membership of Council. He or she may be removed from office by the Mayor, but such removal shall not take place without the concurrence of the majority of the membership of Council.
He or she shall be responsible for the organization, supervision and maintenance of the Fire Department of the Municipality.
He or she shall perform such other duties, consistent with his or her office, as may be required by this Charter or by ordinance of the Council, or as directed by the Mayor.
