Section 2. Qualifications
   No person shall be eligible to be a member of Council unless he or she shall have been continuously a resident for two (2) years, and a qualified elector for one (1) year, in the Municipality of Grafton, Ohio, immediately prior to his or her election or appointment. No person shall serve as a member of Council unless during his or her term of office, he or she shall continue to be a resident and qualified elector of the Municipality of Grafton, Ohio. He or she shall not hold any other office or employment in the Municipality except that he or she may serve as an EMT, fireman and/or auxiliary policeman with pay, in accordance with that of other individuals serving in such positions within the Village of Grafton, or as otherwise provided in this Charter. He or she shall forfeit his or her office as Councilman in the event he or she is called to full-time military service for a period exceeding sixty-one (61) consecutive days. He or she shall not, directly or indirectly, solicit, contract for, receive or be interested in any profit or emolument from or on account of any contract, job, work or service with or for the Municipality. Any member who shall cease to possess any of the qualifications herein required shall forfeit his or her office, and any such contract in which any member is or may become interested may be declared void by Council.
