(a) All members of the Police Department are hereby required to assist in the preservation of life and limb, to prevent crime, to act on any violation of any law or ordinance and to assist anyone imperiled with loss of life, limb or property, at any time, whether or not such member is officially on duty and in uniform.
(b) The requirements set forth in division (a) of this section shall extend to all members of the Department while in the Village or while in a neighboring jurisdiction with which the Village has a mutual aid agreement.
