(a) Roadways. The permanent roadway of a minor residential street shall be either 8-inch thick air entrained reinforced Portland cement concrete or a flexible type having a slag sub-base, constructed in accordance with Ohio State Highway Department Construction and Material Specification No. 310. This sub-base shall underlay the entire pavement as well as the curb and gutter. The sub-base will be 4 inches thick under the curb and gutter and 6 inches thick under the asphalt concrete pavement. It will extend beyond the back of the curb to reach the trench of the curb back drainage. There will be a 2-inch thick intermediate course of Ohio type 402 asphalt concrete on top of the sub-base, between the Portland cement gutters. The 2-inch thick surface course will be type 404 asphalt concrete. If a rigid-type pavement is installed, the sub-base slag thickness shall be 2 inches, extending to the curb back drainage. The curb back drainage shall be perforated asbestos cement pipe, 6 inches minimum diameter. It shall be placed at least 3 feet below the gutter elevation immediately behind the curbing in order to intercept ground water. The trench shall have a slag (2 inches to 3/4-inch Railroad Ballast) or gravel backfill to the gutter sub- base elevation. The permanent roadway in arterial or collector streets, or in streets in commercial or industrial areas, shall be designed for the type of traffic which they are expected to carry and the construction shall be varied to meet the individual design. The Village Engineer will direct the owner's engineer in this design.
(b) Curbs and Gutters. All streets shall be provided with curbs and gutters of Portland cement concrete of the integral rolled type unit, not less than 18 inches in overall width and not less than 6 inches thick where the curb abuts the street pavement.
