(A) No dog owner shall keep any dog over six months of age within the city after 3-1-1958 unless a license therefor has first been secured. Licenses shall be issued by the City Clerk for a fee as set forth by the City Council each year in the ordinance establishing the rates and charges for the city (see § 32.01). All licenses shall expire on the last day of February following their issuance.
(B) No person shall be issued a license for any dog unless application therefor is accompanied by appropriate written proof from a licensed veterinarian that the dog for which application is being made has been inoculated against hydrophobia (rabies) so such that the last inoculation given the dog for rabies will be considered effective until February 28 of the year following the expiration date of the current licensing period.
(C) This section shall take effect and be in full force on the day following its publication in the official city newspaper.
