(A) The Fire Chief, the Assistant Fire Chief and other officers shall be elected annually by the members of the Department, subject to confirmation by the Council. Each shall hold office for one year and until a successor has been duly elected; except that, the Council may remove the officer for cause after a public hearing. The Fire Chief shall appoint firefighters and probationary firefighters, subject to confirmation by the Council.
(B) Firefighters shall continue as members of the Department during good behavior and may be removed by the Council only for cause after a public hearing.
