§ 92.08 FIREARMS AND EXPLOSIVES.
   (A)   Discharge of firearms. It is unlawful for a person to fire or discharge within the limits of the city any cannon, gun, pistol or other firearm, firecracker, rocket or other fireworks, air gun, air rifle or other similar device commonly referred to as a BB gun, except when discharging weapons in connection with a civic, patriotic or historical display with the express approval from the City Mayor or his or her designee.
   (B)   Exception. Nothing in division (A) above shall apply to a licensed gunsmith test firing weapons in the course of business, which is not located within a residentially-zoned area of the city and authorized in writing by the Council. This section shall not apply to a display of fireworks by an organization or group of organizations authorized in writing by the Council. This section shall not apply to a peace officer in the discharge of his or her duty, or to a person in the lawful defense of his or her person or family.
