§ 72.01 DEFINITIONS.
   Terms, words, phrases and their derivatives used, but not specifically defined in this subsection shall be commonly defined. Words used in the singular include the plural and the plural include the singular. Words used in the masculine gender include the feminine and the feminine the masculine. The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this section, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning.
   ALLEY. Any public way in the city extending either partly through or through any city block in the rear of city lots or in a direction generally from avenue to avenue or street to street and being not more than 20 feet in width and capable of being traveled by vehicles.
   COMMERCIAL TRUCK. Any self-propelled or towed motor vehicle, or combination thereof, used on a highway or street for the transport of passengers or property if the vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating or combination gross vehicle weight rating of 14,001 pounds or more.
   OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE. A motor vehicle as defined by Tex. Transportation Code § 551A.001, and as amended.
   OPERATOR. A person who drives or has physical control of a vehicle.
   POLE TRAILER. A vehicle without motive power designed to be drawn by another vehicle and secured to the other vehicle by pole, reach, boom or other security device ordinarily used to transport a long or irregularly shaped load, including poles, pipes or structural members, generally capable of sustaining themselves as beams between the supporting connections.
   RECREATIONAL VEHICLE. A vehicular portable structure designed for a temporary or short-term occupancy for travel, recreational or vacation uses, including vacation travel trailers, converted buses, tent trailers or similar devices used for temporary portable housing.
   SCHOOL BUS. A motor vehicle that was manufactured in compliance with the federal motor vehicle safety standards for school buses in effect on the date of manufacture and that is used to transport pre-primary, primary, or secondary students on a route to or from school or on a school-related activity trip other than on routes to and from school. The term does not include a school-chartered bus or a bus operated by a mass transit authority, or a used, no longer commissioned school bus sold to a third party.
   STREET, HIGHWAY OR AVENUE. The entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained when any part thereof is open for use by the public for purposes of vehicular traffic, except alleys.
   TOWABLE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE. Any vehicle without motive power that is designed to be towable by a motor vehicle and for temporary human habitation for uses including recreational camping or seasonal use and is permanently built on a single chassis.
   TRAILER. A vehicle without motive power designed or used for the carrying of property or passengers wholly on its own structure and to be drawn or pulled by a motor vehicle.
