A. Before entering upon their official duties, and in no case later than ten (10) days after appointment, the following officers of the city shall provide bonds for the faithful performance of their official duties, payable to the city, with a surety company authorized to operate within the state, in the amounts respectively indicated after their titles:

B. The city council may, by motion or resolution, require other officers and employees in such positions as it may designate to be bonded in such amounts as it determines. The city council may also, by motion or resolution, increase the amount of the bonds for the personnel listed in subsection A of this section and may also provide for blanket bonds for city personnel.
