9-1-6: SERVICE LINES:
   A.   Specifications; Installation: All water service lines connected with the city water system shall be standard PVC pipe, schedule 40 or greater, including two inches (2") in diameter. All pipes shall be installed not less than two feet (2') below the surface of the ground; except, in streets where the grade is already established, the pipes shall be installed at least three feet (3') below the established grade.    B.   Maintenance:
      1.   Public Lines: All public water service lines between the main and the meter shall be maintained by and at the expense of the city. If a meter is not set at the end of the initial service line, the service lines and connections between the end of the initial service line and the meter shall be maintained by the city.       2.   Private Lines: All private service lines shall be maintained by and at the expense of owner. When the utility service department notifies the owner of a leak in his or her private line, the owner shall have the same repaired immediately, and in case of failure to do so within a reasonable time, such user's service may be cut off until the line has been repaired.
