A. Duty To Give Information: Every driver of a motor vehicle, after participating in or causing an accident by collision or otherwise, or injuring any person or property, shall forthwith stop and give his or her name and address, the name and address of each occupant of the motor vehicle driven by himself or herself, and the number of his or her vehicle to any person authorized by law to demand the same and, after affording every reasonable assistance to the injured person or animal, report the accident forthwith to the police. B. Report Required:
1. The driver of a vehicle which is in any manner involved in an accident in which physical damage is done to one or more vehicles or other property shall, as soon as practicable, report such accident to a police officer or to the police department.
2. The driver of a vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury or death of any person shall immediately, by the quickest means of communication, give notice of such accident to the local police department. (2002 Code § 10.08.040; amd. 2013 Code)
3. The driver of any vehicle which collides with another vehicle unattended shall immediately stop then and there, either locate and notify owner of such vehicle of the name and address of the driver of the vehicle striking the unattended vehicle, or leave in a conspicuous place in the vehicle struck a written notice giving the name and address of the owner striking the vehicle.
