10-3-23: EXTENSION OF MAINS:
   A.   Service Outside Corporate Limits: The water department shall not furnish water to consumers outside the corporate limits of the city. Upon annexation of any tract to the city, the developer or developers shall provide the water department with complete plans and specifications and an engineering report accepted by the Montana department of environmental quality.
   B.   New System Or Major Alteration Or Extension:
      1.   Review And Approval Of Department Of Health And Environmental Services: Before any construction of a new system or major alteration or extension of any existing public water system, an engineering report along with necessary plans and specifications for the public water system shall be submitted to the department of environmental quality for review and approval. The acceptance of plans will be completed before construction commences.
      2.   Costs: Cost of the design, engineering study and all material for the extension shall be borne by the area receiving service or the developer thereof.
      3.   Acceptance Of System; Maintenance: Upon acceptance of the new system, or extension of existing mains by the water department, maintenance of the main line will be provided by the water department and will become part of the overall water system.
      4.   Reservation Of Right: The water department shall reserve the right to specify the necessary size of main for any and all extensions and new systems.
   C.   Specifications: All water main line and appurtenances design, service line design, fire line design and combinations thereof, along with the installation of all water main line, service line, fire line and combinations thereof shall meet all specifications as set forth in the most current edition of "Montana Public Works Standard Specifications".
