10-3-22: PRIVATE FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE:
   A.   Special Application: Service connections for water taken for the extinguishment of fires shall be made only under the terms of and conditions contained in the "Special Application" for such service, a copy of which is on file in the water department.
   B.   Advance Approval Required: The customer must agree to obtain in advance the approval of the water department for any change, alteration, or addition in the fixtures, openings and uses specified in the applications.
   C.   Connection: The water department shall determine the location of any connections made to its distribution mains for private fire protection service. Size of service shall be made by a qualified sprinkler design company. At the cost and expense of the customer, the connection to the distribution system shall be made by a plumber licensed to practice in Montana.
   D.   Materials: Fire lines and domestic lines over two inches (2") in diameter shall be C900 class 200 PVC or ductile iron. When C900 class 200 pipe is used, it can run to a point ten feet (10') outside the building foundation. From that point the material used shall be of ductile iron the remainder of the way into the building up to the water meter or fire system apparatus.
   E.   Extent Of Rights: The extent of the rights of the private fire protection service customer is to receive, but only at times of fire on his premises, such supply of water as shall then be available. The water department shall not be considered in any manner an insurer of property or persons, or to have undertaken to extinguish fire or to protect any persons or property against loss or all claims for damages on account of any injury to property or persons by reason of fire, water, failure to supply water or pressure, or for any other cause whatsoever.
