§ 92.45 KEY LOCK BOX PROGRAM.
   (A)   The Fire Department may maintain a program to allow the owner or person in control of any building to install and maintain a key lock box of a type approved by the Chief of the Fire Department.
   (B)   The owner or person in control of any building may voluntarily install a key lock box. Owners electing to do so shall be and subject to the requirements and conditions as are described in this section.
   (C)   If the owner or person in control of any building chooses to have a key lock box such owner or person shall cause to be placed in the key lock box the following:
      (1)   Labeled keys to locked points of access in the exterior of the building or facility;
      (2)   Labeled keys to locked points of access to common areas, such as hallways or utility rooms, contained within such buildings or facilities;
      (3)   Labeled keys to locked mechanical rooms;
      (4)   Labeled keys to locked electrical rooms;
      (5)   Labeled keys to all other locked areas, other than individual apartments or rented rooms, as directed by the Chief;
      (6)   The code or password for any security alarm system in the building or facility; and
      (7)   Any other information that may be required by regulation.
   (D)   [Reserved.]
   (E)   The owner or person in control of any building having a key lock box shall be present, himself or herself or through his or her agent, during access to such key lock box by the Fire or Police Department, except when the said Department has responded to an emergency at the property.
   (F)   The Fire Chief may propose rules and regulations for the placement and maintenance of key lock boxes within the village, including approved types of key lock boxes. Proposed rules and regulations will be submitted for approval to the Village Council.
   (G)   The village assumes no liability for any of the following:
      (1)   Any defects in the operation of the key lock box, of any of the keys contained within such key lock box or any information stored within the key lock box or otherwise provided to the village;
      (2)   The failure or neglect to respond appropriately upon receipt of an alarm from an alarm system;
      (3)   The failure or neglect of any owner or person in control of a building or facility having a key lock box to provide access to the key lock box; or
      (4)   The security of any property having a key lock box due to access to the key lock box by any person.
