§ 34.07 SERVICE AND POLICE DEPARTMENT OVERTIME AND WORK PERIODS.
   (A)   All employees of the Service Department, with the exception of the Service Superintendent, shall be paid for all overtime authorized by the Service Superintendent at 1-1/2 times their hourly rates. Work performed on a holiday will be paid at two times their hourly rate plus their normal pay for the holiday.
   (B)   All full-time employees of the Police Department and the Service Department, except the Chief of Police and the Village Administrator, shall have the election to take straight time pay or compensation time off at time and one-half.
      (1)   The election shall be available to full-time employees of the Service Department after eight hours of work in any one day or 40 hours of work in any one week.
      (2)   The election shall be available to police officers after ten hours of work in any one day and 40 hours of work in any one week or (when working a 12 hour schedule) after 12 hours of work in any one day or 120 hours in a 21 day period.
   (C)   With the approval of the department head, compensatory time may be granted in lieu of monetary compensation for overtime hours worked by an employee. An employee may accumulate up to 150 hours of comp-time and the hours may be carried from one calendar year to the next. Upon retirement, or termination of employment, the employee shall be compensated at his current rate, for any accumulated comp-time.
   (D)   No village employee shall have the right to refuse to work overtime when, in the opinion of his supervisor, a situation exists that requires immediate attention.
   (E)   The standard work period for village employees shall consist of 80 hours within a 14 day period for those employees assigned to eight or ten hour shifts. Employees assigned to 12 hour shifts shall have a work period of 120 hours within a 21 day period.
