§ 34.06 HOLIDAYS.
   (A)   All established police officers shall have their holiday time posted to them at the beginning of each calendar year and may use said holiday hours only when scheduling allows and as authorized by the Chief of Police. The following holidays have been established for all full-time employees of the village:
      (1)   New Year's day
      (2)   Good Friday
      (3)   Memorial day
      (4)   Independence day
      (5)   Labor day
      (6)   Thanksgiving Day
      (7)   Thanksgiving Day, Day After
      (8)   Christmas Eve
      (9)   Christmas Day
      (10)    Floating Holiday (Employee Choice), three days (Am. Ord. 2005-09, passed 3-7-05)
      (11)    Martin Luther King Day
      (12)    President's Day (Am. Ord. 2004-07, passed 3-1-04)
   (B)   In any of the above holidays fall on a Sunday, the holiday will be recognized the following Monday. If the holiday should fall on Saturday, the holiday will be observed on the preceding Friday.
   (C)   In order for an employee to be paid for the holiday, he must work the last scheduled day before the holiday and the next scheduled day after the holiday, or present a doctor's statement explaining the nature of the illness.
   (D)   Holidays which occur during vacation leave will not be charged against an employee's vacation time.
   (E)   Seasonal and part-time employees are entitled to the holiday benefits as full-time employees, except for the floating holiday, upon the completion of two calendar years of service when the employees are subject to a regular five-day work schedule and are unable to do so due to an established holiday as outlined in division (A). The holiday pay benefits shall be based on the average hours worked per day in the employee’s scheduled work week.
