The Village shall impose a fee upon any person or entity who issues a check or other draft that is subsequently dishonored or returned by the financial institution upon which it is drawn, because the maker does not have an account with the institution, the maker does not have sufficient funds in his account, or for any other reason, in the amount as shown in the Schedule of Fees found in Section 1-16-1 of the Village Code, or for all costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees incurred in connection with the collection of the amount for which the check or other draft was issued, whichever is greater; further that such costs and expenses shall include reasonable costs and expenses incurred in the non-litigated collection of the check or other draft. This fee is in addition to and not in lieu of any other civil or criminal remedies available under Federal or State law to the Village. All sums collected shall be deposited into the Village of Glen Carbon General Fund. (Ord. 1-11-1, 3-23-2004; amd. Ord. 2021-23, 7-27-2021)
