8-2-8: FIRE HYDRANTS; TAMPERING WITH SYSTEM:
   A.   All fire connections or hydrants shall be under the sole supervision and authority of the village, and no consumer, company or other person shall tamper with or remove any hydrant, main or any other supply source, unless such removal is by a duly constituted firefighting organization in the performance of its duties, or under the direct and personal supervision of the village utility superintendent. Any tampering or unauthorized taking of water constitutes extreme danger to the users of the water system, and the pollution from water and liquids may be forced into the mains and pipes of the village.
   B.   It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to break the seal of any meter, or in any manner to make any alteration, change or repair on the same, or to open any mains, laterals, service pipes, stopcocks, hydrants or valves, or any part thereof, or otherwise tamper with or attempt to do any work on either or any of them without authority given by the Village Board or the Utility Superintendent, or to in any way tamper with, injure, damage or interfere with any property connected with the waterworks or sewer systems of the Village shall be fined in the amount as shown in the Schedule of Fees found in Section 1-16-1 of the Village Code, per occurrence.
