5-2-11: EXOTIC AND DANGEROUS ANIMALS:
It shall be unlawful for any person to:
   A.   Harbor, keep, or house within the village any animal that is prohibited, regulated or protected in the Illinois wildlife code 1 except as permitted in said Illinois wildlife code. (Ord. 99-20, 8-10-1999; amd. 2001 Code)
   B.   Harbor, keep, or possess within the village any animal which would constitute a violation of section 1 of the Illinois dangerous animals act 2 . These include, but are not limited to, the following animals: lion, tiger, leopard, ocelot, jaguar, cheetah, margay, mountain lion, Canada lynx, bobcat, jaguarundi, hyena, bear, wolf, coyote, or any life threatening reptile. A life threatening reptile is any member of the crocodilian family or any constricting snakes six feet (6') or over in length, such as a boa, python, and anaconda. (Ord. 99-20, 8-10-1999)
   C.   Own, harbor or possess within the village any turtle or turtle eggs which would constitute a violation of section 264 of the public health service act (42 USCA 264), the rules for that act (21 CFR 1240.62) and section 3372 of the lacey act (16 USCA 3372).    D.   Permit any dangerous or vicious animal of any kind to run at large in the village, or for any animal to run at large when not on the property of the owner or another who has granted such permission to be on the property. (Ord. 99-20, 8-10-1999)
