5-2-1: DEFINITIONS:
As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires, the following terms shall mean:
ANIMAL: Any living creature (nonhuman), domestic or wild.
ANIMAL SHELTER: Any premises designated by the village administrative authority for purposes of impounding and caring for animals held under the authority of this chapter.
HUMANE ORGANIZATION: Any chartered, not for profit organization authorized to do business in the state and organized for the purpose of preventing cruelty to animals and promoting humane care and treatment of animals.
OWNER: Any person, partnership or corporation owning, keeping or harboring animals.
PERSON: An individual, partnership, company or corporation.
SMALL CAGE ANIMAL: A small caged animal weighing less than one pound which is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter, Illinois law, or federal law, or described as dangerous by such laws. (Ord. 99-20, 8-10-1999; amd. 2001 Code)
