5-1-4: PUBLIC SAFETY ANSWERING POINT/COMMUNICATIONS SUPERVISOR:
   A.   Position Established: There is hereby established the position of public safety answering point/communications supervisor in the village police department.
   B.   Classification: The public safety answering point (PSAP)/communications supervisor position shall be a full time position under the direct supervision of the chief of police and shall be a part of the management staff of the police department.
   C.   Appointment: The PSAP/communications supervisor shall be appointed by the chief of police and confirmed by the village board.
   D.   Duties And Responsibilities: The PSAP/communications supervisor shall perform the following duties and responsibilities:
      1.   Plan the work schedule, assign, train and supervise the personnel of the village PSAP and ensure that the communication center is staffed at all times by certified and qualified personnel.
      2.   Supervise the cleaning, care and maintenance of communications equipment.
      3.   Ensure that all communications personnel maintain required certifications and that the PSAP and personnel are in compliance with all FCC, LEADS, NCIC and E911 laws, regulations and policies.
      4.   Assist the sergeants of the police and administrative aide in the preparation of information and statistical reports and/or other documentation that may be required.
      5.   Establish and maintain an operational knowledge of the operations manual and rules and regulations of the Glen Carbon police department.
      6.   Evaluate communication personnel performance and make recommendation to the chief of police concerning discipline and commendation.
      7.   Any other duties or assignments designated by the chief of police.
   E.   Compensation: The PSAP/communications supervisor shall be a salaried position. The salary of the PSAP/communications supervisor shall be established by the village board upon recommendation from the police committee and shall be reviewed annually. (Ord. 2000-26, 6-13-2000)
