A. Chief Of Police And Police Officers: There is hereby created and recognized the office of chief of police and of police officers of the village. The number of police officer positions shall be determined by the village board. (1941 Code ch. I, § 54; amd. 2001 Code)
B. Sergeants: The village hereby creates and establishes the position of sergeant within the police department and authorizes the board of police commissioners to take such action as is appropriate and necessary and, in conformity with state statutes, to promote, from time to time, qualified police officers to fill the sergeant position(s). The number of sergeant positions within the police department shall be determined by the village board. (2001 Code)
C. Lieutenants: The village hereby creates and establishes the position of lieutenant within the police department and authorizes the board of police commissioners to take such action as is appropriate and necessary and, in conformity with state statutes, to promote, from time to time, qualified police officers to fill the lieutenant positions. The president and board of trustees of the village of Glen Carbon, Illinois, establish that there shall be two (2) positions of lieutenant of police within the village of Glen Carbon, Illinois.
