4-7-4: IMPOUNDMENT OF ABANDONED VEHICLE; RECORDS:
   A.   Authority To Impound: The Chief of Police or his designee shall cause the removal of any abandoned vehicle not removed by the owner seven (7) days from the initial notification to the owner of the abandoned vehicle. Notification in writing and mailing same to the last known owner at the address as recorded by the Secretary of State on the vehicle title or registration shall constitute serving of notice. Abandoned vehicles for which the owner cannot be determined shall be removed and disposed of according to 625 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/4-107.
   B.   Records Kept: When a motor vehicle or other vehicle is authorized to be towed away, the Police Department shall keep and maintain a record of the vehicle towed, listing to the extent known, the color, year of manufacture, manufacturer's trade name, series name, body style, vehicle identification number and registration number displayed on the vehicle. The record shall also include the date and hour of tow, location towed from, location towed to, reason for towing, the name of the towing company, and name of the officer authorizing the tow.
