The certificate of occupancy shall be issued in the name of the owner as defined herein, and shall state that the dwelling, or dwelling unit, is in conformance with this chapter.
(A) In addition, for a dwelling or dwelling unit the certificate shall contain the name of the individual occupying the dwelling or dwelling unit, and shall contain an expiration date but in all cases shall expire upon a change in ownership or vacation of the dwelling or dwelling unit by the individual named in the certificate unless sooner revoked as hereinafter provided.
(B) In an instance in which a certificate of occupancy is requested and there is either no record of a certificate being issued originally or the owner or person occupying the dwelling has changed since the original issuance a new certificate of occupancy shall be required.
(C) Inspection to procure a certificate of occupancy is to establish that the requirements of the currently adopted Property Maintenance Code are being met. Existing structures are not required to be brought up to the current adopted Building Code.
