(A) Normal retirement age. No member of the Police and Fire Departments shall be eligible to obtain retirement pension benefits until he or she has reached the normal retirement age even though his or her eligibility to claim the benefits is obtained after 20 years of service. The normal retirement age is established at 65 years of age.

(B) Mandatory retirement age. A mandatory retirement age of 65 is established for all members of the Police and Fire Departments and the employment of each member of the Police and Fire Departments shall terminate upon the thirtieth day of the month following the month in which that member attains the age of 65 years.
