The presiding officer of the Magistrate Court and such other magistrates as deemed necessary by the Council shall be appointed by the Council. A magistrate shall serve for a term of two years with the beginning and end of the term to be specified at the time of appointment. During the term, a magistrate may be removed only for cause. He or she shall receive compensation as fixed at the beginning of the term, and shall remain the same throughout the term.
