§ 96.57 SALE OF UNREDEEMED ANIMALS.
   All animals, taken up and impounded under the provisions of this chapter which have not been claimed and for which the fees and charges have not been paid to the Poundmaster by the owner within five days, shall at the time provided in the notice of sale be sold by the Poundmaster at public auction at the place of impoundment to the highest cash bidder. The Poundmaster shall immediately pay to the Clerk the proceeds of the sale of any animal, which proceeds, after deducting therefrom the fees and charges, shall be paid to the owner of the animal if he or she appears and claims the same within 30 days after the sale, and if not, then the proceeds shall be paid into the General Fund of the town. The Poundmaster shall execute a bill of sale over his or her official signature in favor of the purchaser of the animal and upon payment of the amount bid shall deliver the bill of sale to the purchaser.
