§ 72.09 ABANDONED VEHICLES.
   (A)   It is unlawful for any person to abandon any vehicle on public or private property.
   (B)   Evidence that a vehicle was left unattended for a period of 72 hours on a street or other property not owned by the vehicle's owner shall be prima facie evidence of abandonment.
   (C)   Members of the Police Department so authorized by the Chief of Police may remove or cause to be removed any abandoned vehicle the owner of which either cannot be located by reference to the phone directory, neighbors or vehicle registration or the owner of which indicates that he or she does not wish to retain the vehicle.
   (D)   Upon removal, the abandoned vehicle shall be appraised by a police officer designated by the Chief of Police and certified to the State Department of Transportation.
   (E)   After the vehicle is appraised, it shall be disposed of pursuant to A.R.S. Title 28, Ch. 8, Art. 5.
